General Information

Aspotogan Arts & Crafts

Aspotogan Arts & Crafts was formed in the year 2000 with the goal of exploring professional development, promotion and exhibition possibilities, and mutual support for artists working in the area. Our members work in a wide variety of arts and crafts including painting, rug hooking, wood working, sculpture, fabric arts, pottery and photography. The association has grown steadily over the ten years as new members join and discover a welcoming and vibrant arts community. Aspotogan Arts & Crafts organizes annual shows that attract a growing number of visitors, and participates in several art exhibitions and events in the greater community; in addition, we sponsor artist talks and workshops (open to both members and non-members). The Aspotogan area has become a destination of choice for artists, the spectacular natural beauty of the area being complemented by its wealth of artistic activity.

ASPOTOGAN MOSAIC: Created by members of Aspotogan Arts & Crafts in celebration of its 10th anniversary in 2010, and donated to Ocean Swells Community Centre in Northwest Cove.

Where is Aspotogan?

About Aspotogan

Aspotogan is a small fishing community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Chester Municipal District on the Aspotogan Peninsula.

Aspotogan is at the head of Aspotogan Harbour, which gets its name from the Mi'kmaq Ashmutogun or Ukpudeskakun meaning "block the passage way" or "where the seals go in and out". (Courtesy of Wikipedia.)

A Beautiful and Scenic Area!
