Mary Leslie Hunter

My dear mother, Jessie Moira Power was a very prolific artist. During my young life, my mother constantly taught me to visualize all, through her artist’s frame of reference.

I sat next to her for hours while she did her paintings and talked to me about them. Her library was extensive and we often delved into it, so she could be more explicit.

My interest in art was strong, and as I raised my own family, I attended NSCAD though evening extension classes in drawing, pottery, sculpting, and painting. Workshops were ideal for my situation and so I continued to learn art.

I am now retired and live close to my passion, the sea. I paint the fishing boats, the sea, the sky and the elements.

As a member of the Aspotogan Arts & Crafts I am now part of a very enthused group of artists that share their knowledge through painting groups and workshops with members and bring guest artists from afar to teach us.

This is a most inspiring place to be.
